We know how hard it is to loose your best friend,
so we've created our Virtual Memorial Candles so you can
honor your beloved pet. Share your feelings and thoughts
with others and give your buddy a special place to be remembered. With your donation we'll add your pets photo,
a virtual candle and your memorial statement.

Sponsor a Shelter Pet

For those of you who cannot bring a pet into your home at this time we ask you to please consider sponsoring one of our long term cats or dogs. Many of our residents come to us with medical or social condtions that prolong their stay here.

Any donation that you make, will help Freeport Animal Shelter provide a loving cat or dog with much needed medicine, medical care and food. While we have an infinite amount of love to share, money is often in short supply. With your sponsorship we will add your name as a sponsor, and we'll also send you a special email from your sponsored pet and their photo!

Make a Donation

You can now make a donation to us on the Internet with our secure server payment host. Donations are tax-deductible and we gratefully accept all donations, big or small. Just type in the amount that you want to give.

Be A Foster Parent

We often have pets that have special needs or kittens and puppies that need to be bottle fed . Some of our animals just need TLC while their waiting for a permanent home!
If you could take a pet into your heart and your home temporarily please Contact Us.
We would be appreciate any help you could provide.

Volunteer

At Freeport Animal Shelter there is always plenty to do for the animals in our care. Whether it's working with children to educate them about being a responsible pet guardian or taking care of the animals at the shelter, we never seem to have enough time or people to get everything done!

Freeport Animal Shelter is always looking for hardworking, dedicated and reliable animal lovers ages 16 and up to volunteer their time and support our life saving mission. As a volunteer you can work hands on with the animals, assist in our administrative offices, help out at events and so much more… If you have special carpentry skills and consider yourself handy, please let us know!

Freeport Animal Shelter couldn’t accomplish the life saving work we do without the compassion and diligence of our volunteer staff. Everyone can make a difference in the life of an animal when they volunteer for us.

Donating Items to Freeport Shelter

Freeport Shelter relies heavily ( and really appreciates ) your donations. From the puppy snuggling in that warm throw to the cat in a favorite pet bed, your donations help animals feel a little more comfortable and at home here during their stay. While our first goal is to get these animals placed in loving new homes as quickly as possible, the reality is that this process can sometimes take a significant amount of time. Having these little pet "luxuries" will help these animals during this transition period.

   *Laundry Detergent /Liguid bleach
     *heavy duty Trash Bags large
     *Baby Food stage 1- chicken or turkey
     *Baby Rice Cereal
     *Evaporated Milk

*Cat & dog beds. Large baskets(no handles) for cat beds
*Cat trees and scratching posts
*Unopened cat & dog toys
*Unopened cat & dog food ( dry, wet, we'll take it all! )
*New rawhides, pigs ears, bones · you get the idea
*Collars & leashes
*Large metal pet feeding bowls
*Grooming equipment
*"Kiddie" pools
*Small refrigerators
*Electric heaters
*Washer & Dryer

*Small washable blankets (since we don't have commercial washing machines here),    throws, towels - even small washable throw rugs can come in very handy

*Small single-seat sofas, futons or recliners - wouldn't it be special to come to the Shelter and see a relaxed terrier mix enjoying your old recliner!
